Uprising Magazine is the University of Northern Iowa’s student-run fashion, social justice, arts & culture magazine. Each semester, a new issue is released.
While involved in Uprising, I designed a total of six pieces which were featured in Issues 14 and 15. Each issue had a different theme, color palette and display typeface, providing designers with new creative challenges. After the initial theme and color palette were chosen, the Graphic Design Committee would create mood boards together to visualize our goals for the issue. When it came time to design, we had a plethora of inspiration ready to go.
Before designing, I consulted with the writers and photographers of each piece to inquire if they had any visions for how they wanted their stories to be told. Then, I worked my magic!
Each design went through two rounds of revisions before the final files were sent to print. I implemented feedback from the Graphic Design Directors and the Editors-in-Chief to reach the final pieces.
