The Middle of NOWhere Rural Art & Music Festival, dubbed “The MONfest,” is a rural festival showcasing artists and musicians from across the midwest. Held in Madrid, Iowa, this festival is run by creatives who share a passion for celebrating the diverse talent in the midwest arts & music community. I had the pleasure of creating the official logo for the festival prior to their 2nd annual MONfest, held on July 12th, 2025.

Brainstorm
After learning more about the event and speaking with the client, I created some sketches on Procreate. I drew inspiration from barns, rural scenery and sunlight.

Develop
The client viewed the initial sketches and identified a few that they wanted me to develop further. Using their feedback as inspiration, I dove deeper into 2 specific concepts.

Present
I presented these two designs for them to choose from. The top was created in Illustrator, and the bottom was hand-drawn in Procreate.

Deliver
The client selected the Illustrator-made design as the one to move forward with. After simplifying the design, the logo was ready to promote their upcoming festival. Cheers!
